top notch boutique hotel morocco RIAD MARRAKECH This riad was the friendliest one we stayed at of all five riads/hotels in Morocco over a 2-week trip. Oliver and the staff, Amin and Said, were extremely helpful, taking us places in the medina, recommending restaurants, and offering advice. The breakfast was the best we had, with fresh orange juice, coffee, chocolate croissants, crepes, and omelettes. We ate there one night for dinner and it was excellent, with generous servings. The eating area was pretty and intimate and there is a rooftop seating area also. The room was small but adequate. The bathroom was small too, but there was a shower curtain so water didn't go all over the floor as in some other places we stayed. The location was about an 8-minute walk from the Djemma el-Fna square, but close to some sights like the Dar Si Said. It was a little tricky to find, and like most riads it was down a small mostly deserted alley way with high walls made of clay. But then you stepped through the doorway and were re-assured that you had made a good choice as you entered the atrtractive downstairs seating area. We made some arrangments through the riad, for a one-day outing with a private car and also for a taxi to pick up friends. These were more expensive than they should have been, so it would be better to compare prices from other sources before making these arrangements through the riad. The big plus for Dar Najat was the helpfulness of the staff. They even gave us a mobile phone to use while we were there. This was by far the best service of any other place we stayed. Banff Springs Hotel Banff Springs Hotel is a former railway hotel constructed in Scottish Baronial style located in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. The original hotel, designed by American architect Bruce Price was built between spring of 1887 and 1888 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, at the instigation of its President, William Cornelius Van Horne. The hotel was publicly opened on June 1, 1888.Starting in 1911, a wholly new hotel was built in stages to replace the 1888 structure. The new hotel was designed by another American architect, Walter S. Painter. Compared with Price's Shingle style-influenced wooden structure, Painter's new hotel was built of concrete and faced with stone. The hotel is presently owned and operated by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts. The hotel is within a spectacular setting in the Rocky Mountains, just above the Bow Falls, close to thermal springs. It is within walking distance of the resort community of Banff. The main view from the hotel is across the valley and towards Mount Rundle, frequently cited in geology books for its exposed and tilted ancient seabeds. In 1968, the hotel was winterised and has been open year-round since.
